🌍☁️ What will stop #climatechange? Changing humans’ habits? Tech innovations? Or both? – Experts’ insights with Daan Roosegard & Kilian Kaminski

⚡️In the last few years, climate change has become more and more present in media, politics and everyday life.

Heavy rains leading to floods, scorching heat waves, forest fires and more… We are experiencing the impact of the changes firsthand and more extremely than ever.

🌡 🏙According to NASA, current warming is occurring about 10 times faster than the average rate of warming after an ice age. Additionally, carbon dioxide from human activities is increasing about 250 times faster than it did from natural sources after the last Ice Age.

❓The big question still is: What can we do to stop it? Can technology help?

🔬While it is still disputed whether humans should intervene in climate events, scientists are feverishly looking for an answer developing new technologies, e.g., in “geo engineering”.

🌟 The term describes various technological methods that can be used to actively intervene in climate events aiming to guide the climate in a direction determined by humans and eventually stop climate change.

🌱Critics say that these approaches would enable humans to just carry on as always when it is actually important to change humans’ behavior.

❓So what exactly can we do to affect our climate more positively? What kind of behaviors can we change and what is the best way to do that?

💡During our time at Digital X in Cologne, we met up with artist, innovator and founder of Studio Roosegaarde, Daan Roosegaarde, as well as with Kilian Kaminski, founder of refurbed and asked all those questions and more.

What do you think are the types of human behavior that need to change most urgently?
